Hearst magazine had their first of upcoming masters talks today.,and today was a treat, it was featured Milton Glaser. I really only new about Milton Glaser from what my design books have spoke about. He created the I love NY logo and the. Bob Dylan poster.
But with today talk the showed a great little documentary about Glaser called Inform & Delight. It gives a great look at the body of work that Glaser has created, and being a tried and true New Yorker myself, I learned how much he feels NY is a part of him and why he designs.
He created what we consider norm in magazine design, but it was just a response to his environment. His ability to draw and design gave him the creativity to problem solve typographically of illustratively. I respect him most for being globally respected and creating awareness through his designs.
Great step Hearst in a series of upcoming talks. Glaser was great.
